Last Tuesday February 11th, during the welcome-back fair organized by the student life department (LiFE), representatives of the W-STEM project at Tecnológico de Monterrey celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. During a celebration that took place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., W-STEM team congratulated female students enrolled in science and engineering programs for their effort in the studies, as well as their important participation and critical role in these development areas
During the event, the W-STEM project and the concrete participation of Tecnológico de Monterrey were disseminated, which, together with other 14 universities in Europe and Latin America, seeks to improve strategies and mechanisms of attraction, access and guidance of women in STEM educational programs. In addition, thanks to the alliance made with the Center for the Recognition of Human Dignity and LiFE, activities and services offered to students for their well-being, security and integral development was also shared.
In addition to talking and enjoying with the student community and disseminating what the STEM acronym means, celebrated students were invited to record an inspiring message for themselves and for other generations who want to dedicate their professional life to these areas of knowledge, getting more than 30 participations These messages will be published for the next celebrations of International Women’s Day.
